Halifax Habitat for Humanity joined Halifax Urban Ministries, and Family Renew Community, Inc. in a march to raise awareness of homelessness and the continued need for affordable housing in our communities.

Basic Information on Applying for Homeownership

To apply for homeownership, interested persons must meet the following basic criteria:
  • HOUSING NEED - Currently living in substandard housing (structural problems, overcrowding, paying more than 50% of income in rent, etc.) and a resident of our affiliate area (Ormond Beach, Holly Hill, Daytona Beach, South Daytona, Port Orange) for a least one year
  • ABILITY TO PAY - Documentation of income that will support the expected housing costs (mortgage, property taxes, homeowners' insurance, utilities, etc) plus provision for other family staples (food, clothing, transportation)
  • WILLINGNESS TO PARTNER - Committing to 300 hours for a single adult-headed family or 500 for a dual adult-headed family of sweat equity over at least one year's time towards attaining homeownership. Willingness to partner also means participating and completing classes and workshops on new homeownership.
